Dr. Cooper
Head of School

Barbara has been a classical Christian educator since 1997. She graduated from Concordia University in Portland, Oregon. She enjoys traveling, all things outdoors, reading, gardening, and spending time with her grandchildren. Considering her faith to be the most important thing to know about her, Barbara finds knowing Jesus to be her greatest joy and her greatest adventure.

Dean of Grammar School and Latin Teacher

Adam has taught for 13+ years at classical Christian schools, and he graduated from Moody Bible Institute with a BA in Biblical Languages; Wheaton College Graduate School with an MA in Biblical Exegesis; and Wheaton College Graduate School with an MA in Historical and Systematic Theology. He enjoys reading a variety books, roasting coffee, hiking and camping, and spending time with his wife and their four kids.

Mr. Stevenson
Dean of Logic and Rhetoric Schools and Humanities Teacher 

After receiving a Classical Christian Education in grade school, Sean graduated Summa Cum Laude with a double major BA in Classical Studies and Medieval & Early Modern Studies and an MA in History, both from the University of Florida. He is a Phi Beta Kappa member and has been an educator for over 15 years. He enjoys woodworking, making music, cooking, and reading too many books at once with his three children in Burien.

Dean of Academics and Humanities Teacher

Jenny received her BA in Interior Design with a minor in Business Administration from Seattle Pacific University. She currently spends all her time away from school shuttling kids to activities, cooking healthy meals, and planning family adventures. Jenny, her husband, and three children live in the Beacon Hill neighborhood.

Christina graduated from Columbia College Chicago with a BA in Cultural Studies and has a Certificate in Biblical Counseling. She loves cookbooks and finds it fascinating to read about various methods, flavors, and styles in cooking from all over the world. She, her husband, son, and dog live in the Greenwood neighborhood.

Kim joins the team with over 20 years of leadership in church and para-church organizations serving in roles for communications, campus collegiate ministry, youth ministry and church planting. She enjoys most activities that can include spending time with friends and family like volleyball, hiking, hanging out over dinner, and watching her kids play sports.

Alyssa is a 5+ year educator who earned BA of Bible and Youth Ministry from Moody Bible Institute. After school hours, you can find Alyssa working for her church on Phinney Ridge, running around the Seattle U track, or sharing a meal with friends. She and her plants live in the First Hill neighborhood.

Laura graduated with a BA in Marketing from the University of Georgia. Over the last decade, she has accumulated a diverse range of experience in marketing, project management, community engagement, and organizing just about everything. She enjoys gardening, reading, and the beautiful chaos of hosting a great dinner party. Laura, her husband, and two daughters live in Magnolia.

Erika is an educator with over 18 years of experience, with a BA in French, a minor in English from Simon Fraser University, a BEd from the University of British Columbia, an MEd from Endicott College, Montessori teacher training at the Primary and Elementary levels from the Association Montessori Internationale, and completed the CiRCE Certified Classical Teacher program. When she isn't spending time with her husband, four children, and two bichon frisés, Erika enjoys watercolor painting, Broadway shows, and baking cakes and pies.

Julie is a seasoned twenty-year educator in the classical Christian model. She attended Pacific Lutheran University and Capernwray Bible School in England. Julie and her husband raised five classically educated children while Julie directed a classical Christian cooperative. She enjoys gardening, outdoor sports, coffee with friends, raising chickens, and riding her horse, Ruby.

Anna is an 8 year educator who graduated from The Master’s University with a BA in Liberal Studies with a Teacher Education emphasis and a minor in Bible. She enjoys kayaking, walking trails, exploring new places, crafting, decorating, and baking. She lives in the University District.

Kylie is a 6+ year educator who graduated from The Master's University with a BA in Teacher Education and a MA currently in progress. She enjoys spending time with friends and family, being outside (especially near water), playing games, and reading mysteries. She lives in the University District.

Ms. Collins
2nd Grade Teacher

Mia recently graduated from Seattle Pacific University with a BA in Elementary Education and a K-8 teaching certification. Mia played on the women's soccer team at SPU, and she enjoys soaking up sunshine, exploring new scenery, cheering on Seattle sports teams, and spending time in coffee shops. She lives with her friends in Roosevelt.

Matt is a 20+year veteran educator who is a Hillsdale College graduate with a BA in English with a minor in History. He loves being outside cycling, hiking, golfing, and camping as well as enjoying quality coffee, bourbon, and Belgian beers. He and his wife live in the Columbia City neighborhood.

Ava attended a classical Christian school from Kindergarten through 12th grade, an experience that deeply shaped her faith, character, and love of learning. Ever since, she has felt drawn back to that kind of formative environment. Although she initially pursued a nursing degree in college, Ava sensed God calling her toward education, where she hopes to invest in students’ lives just as her own teachers and mentors once invested in her. She enjoys reading, skiing, and spending time with family and friends. Ava lives in Snoqualmie and often visits Oregon to reconnect with her loved ones there.

Stephanie is a 5+ year educator who holds a B.A. in Behavioral Science from McNeese State University and is currently pursuing a Master of Arts in Educational Leadership from The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary. Stephanie lives in Des Moines with her husband and their three wonderful daughters, ages 8, 7, and 4. She enjoys good coffee, hiking, spending time near the water, reading, and being actively involved in her local church.

Luba holds degrees in Spanish and Italian languages and literatures from the University of California, Los Angeles. When she is not in the classroom, she is translating Ukrainian literature into English. She enjoys reading, going on walks, good food, art, music, and flowers.

Luke spent 4 years teaching math in Little Rock, Arkansas, before spending the last 5 years in graduate school at the University of Rochester for Medical Sciences pursuing an advanced degree in Statistics. He enjoys making pasta from scratch, board games, reading, trivia, and attending sporting events with his wife, Lara. He lives in the Green Lake neighborhood with his wife and two cats, Mylo and Mo.

Lilia is an 9 year educator, with a BA in Interdisciplinary Arts and Sciences from the University of Washington - Tacoma and a MAT in secondary English Education from Western Governors University. Beyond teaching, she delights in culinary adventures and immerses herself in the great outdoors, relishing hikes and camping trips that feed her spirit of exploration. Her husband, Josh, and their son, embrace life's adventures in the heart of the Central District.

Carreen holds a BA in English from Thomas Edison State University and is a CiRCE Certified Master Teacher with 4+ years of classical education experience. She loves spending time in nature and writing poetry about it, some of which has been accepted for publication by Ekstasis Magazine, Clayjar Review, and Fathom Magazine. She lives in Edmonds with her husband and two young children

Mike received an undergraduate degree in Theological Studies at Calvary Chapel Bible College in Southern California and graduated from Western Seminary in Portland with a Masters in Applied Biblical Leadership. He has been pastoring for over 20 years and currently serves as Lead Pastor at Calvary Chapel Wallingford.

Lauren is a 6+ year educator who graduated from Seattle Pacific with her BA in elementary education and science, and her MA in Educational Leadership. She enjoys crocheting, being outdoors (preferably by a beach), rock climbing, reading, and making pasta dishes. She lives in Magnolia with two of her best friends.

Angela is an educator who fell in love with classical education a decade ago after a life-changing encounter with Norms and Nobility by David Hicks. She holds a Master of Humanities with a concentration in Classical Education from the University of Dallas and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Social Sciences from the University of Washington. She loves friendships and flowers, and devotes time to growing both. She will not end a conversation if you bring up classical education, the incarnation, or your favorite book.  She lives in Everett with her husband, three teenage children, and a golden retriever.

Mark is a Seattle native, 10+ year Christian educator, and passionate about equipping the next generation. Mark has earned several degrees: BA in Biblical Studies from Pacific Islands University, MA in Christian Education, ThM in Applied Theology, and is finishing his dissertation for a Doctorate in Education (EdD) all from Midwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. Mark also serves as the Lead Pastor at The Hallows Church in Wallingford. Mark lives an active lifestyle with his family, obsesses over working out, and is always reading a variety of theology and philosophy books. Mark lives in the West Seattle neighborhood with his wife Amy and their four kids, three of whom attend SCCS.

Rafael is a seasoned medical professional who transitioned into education, bringing a wealth of healthcare experience and a dedicated teaching ethos. He holds a medical degree and a Master's in Public Health, during which he engaged in projects with WHO and Unicef. His healthcare career, involving patient care and management roles, primarily unfolded in Texas. Dr. Barrera continues to contribute to Kaplan as faculty and a content and curriculum developer, impacting the success of medical students. Currently pursuing a Doctorate of Health Science at Purdue University, Dr. Barrera teaches Behavioral Science and Epidemiology/Statistics, applying his knowledge to enhance medical education and USMLE exam preparation. Additionally, Dr. Barrera has enriched his educational portfolio by teaching Biology to high school students in Texas and Physical Science in Seattle, further solidifying his commitment to academic excellence.

Carrie Jo Mangle has been teaching music for more than 30 years with a contagious enthusiasm to students of all ages in South King County. She earned her Bachelors of Music in Education from Central Washington University and has worked with the Northwest Girlchoir, Federal Way Schools, Des Moines Creek Academy and Christ’s Church in Federal Way. In 2006, Carrie Jo, her husband Steve and their four children founded the Cantate Home School Choirs which has continued to grow with more than 130 home-schooled singers.

Board of Directors

 

The Seattle Classical Christian School Board of Directors serves as the entity steering the long-term development of the school. Currently, this role includes establishing educational philosophies, directing financial decisions, managing human resources activities, and more. The Board also provides oversight to the headmaster. Board members are volunteers, represent a mix of parents of students and non-parents, and bring to the Board a wide array of professional experience and personal perspectives. It is the Board’s constant prayer that their decisions would be wise, unified, and led by the Holy Spirit.
